[Asia Economy (Yongin) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province will provide emergency heating cost support of 35 million won to 87 social welfare facilities in the area.
Yongin City announced on the 3rd that it decided to use part of the neighbor-helping donations to provide emergency heating cost support, as many social welfare facilities are struggling with operations due to the recent surge in heating costs.
The support targets 87 facilities, including 21 facilities for people with disabilities, 34 local children's centers, 15 Dahamkke Care Centers, 14 child group homes, and 3 facilities for single mother protection and women's shelters.
Support amounts will vary from 200,000 to 600,000 won depending on the size of the facility.
The support funds will be delivered to each facility through the Gyeonggi Social Welfare Community Chest within this month.
A city official stated, "Many social welfare facilities are struggling with operations due to the surge in heating costs, so we decided to provide emergency support," adding, "We will do our best to build a broader social safety net to alleviate the difficulties of vulnerable groups."
