EU Leadership Visits Ukraine... Three-Day Meeting with President Zelenskyy

[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Union (EU) Commission, arrived in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, on the 2nd (local time). President von der Leyen is scheduled to hold a summit meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky, President of Ukraine.

President von der Leyen stated on social media (SNS) that "I am pleased to return to Kyiv for the fourth time since Russia's invasion," adding, "This time, I have come together with my fellow Commission members." She continued, "We have gathered to show that the EU always firmly supports Ukraine," and introduced, "Through this visit, we will further strengthen our support and cooperation."

President von der Leyen was accompanied by 15 EU Commissioners this time. On the 3rd, she will hold talks with President Zelensky along with Charles Michel, President of the European Council.

Earlier, Ukraine applied for EU membership on February 28 last year, shortly after the Russian invasion. In response, the EU granted Ukraine candidate country status.
