[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Sohn Byung-doo, Chairman of the Korea Exchange, delivered donations collected together with employees to the ChildFund Korea.
The Korea Exchange announced on the 2nd that it donated 240 million KRW from a sharing fund voluntarily raised by employees to help single-parent families to the ChildFund Korea. The sharing fund donations were composed of 43.94 million KRW raised through individual donations from Korea Exchange employees and collecting leftover change from salaries (less than 10,000 KRW), matched by the KRX National Happiness Foundation.
The donation will support the living expenses of 100 children from single-parent families, with each child receiving 200,000 KRW per month (2.4 million KRW annually) until they graduate from high school through the ChildFund Korea.
Additionally, emotional support activities such as meeting days between children and employees or letter exchanges will be conducted to help children grow emotionally healthy. The support project for children from single-parent families is a sponsorship activity started by Korea Exchange employees who have voluntarily raised funds since 2012.
Sohn Byung-doo, Chairman of the Korea Exchange, stated, "We will continue to provide support so that children who find it difficult to focus on their studies due to difficult family circumstances can grow up nurturing their dreams in a stable home." He added, "Driven by the voluntary donation activities of the exchange employees, we will promote various social contribution activities for the underprivileged in our society."
