According to the county on the 2nd, a total of 575 people participated in the hometown love donation as of the 1st, with the donation amount reaching 77 million KRW.
So far, examining the donation tendencies, there were four donors who contributed 5 million KRW each, and over 90% donated around 100,000 KRW, which is the tax credit limit.
High-value donors who donated the maximum limit of 5 million KRW include Jeonju Young-eun Guk, chairman of the Jeollabuk-do Provincial Council whose hometown is Imsil, Yang In-cheol, CEO of Food Joa Co., Ltd., Park Deok-soon, CEO of Namyang Housing, and one anonymous donor.
Besides these, most donors preferred the 100,000 KRW donation tier and cheese thank-you gifts, greatly contributing to attracting over 500 donations.
In fact, Imsil’s representative specialty products, cheese and yogurt, were chosen by 53% of donors as differentiated thank-you gifts compared to other local governments, playing a significant role in establishing the Hometown Love Donation Program.
In particular, County Governor Shim Min, public officials, and local residents took the lead in actively promoting the Hometown Love Donation Program through bonds with hometown friends, expatriates, and local residents, thereby strengthening the policy’s outreach.
On the 9th of last month, Governor Shim Min donated hometown love funds to 16 cities and counties including those in the province, encouraging residents and expatriates to participate in the program, effectively acting as a promotional ambassador leading Imsil’s donation publicity.
Additionally, official county channels such as Facebook, Instagram, KakaoTalk, and ImsilEnTV YouTube played a significant role in promoting the love for Imsil through the Hometown Love Donation Program.
Using SNS channels, the county has been focusing on continuous online and offline promotion by launching new segments introducing Imsil-gun’s thank-you gifts along with a four-line acrostic poem event for the Hometown Love Donation Program.
The Hometown Love Donation Program allows individuals to donate to local governments other than their registered address, such as their hometown, and receive tax credit benefits and thank-you gifts (up to 30% of the donation amount).
The donation limit is up to 5 million KRW per person annually, with a full tax credit for donations up to 100,000 KRW, and a 16.5% tax credit for the amount exceeding 100,000 KRW.
The county expects that cheese and yogurt products made using Imsil cheese will gain nationwide popularity and competitiveness as differentiated thank-you gifts due to regional characteristics.
Governor Shim Min said, “We thank the donors who have shown their love for their hometown and support for Imsil-gun. We will ensure that the heartfelt contributions are well delivered to the residents of Imsil and used valuably for regional development and the welfare of residents.”
