[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] Hanse Yes24 Cultural Foundation announced on the 2nd that it will hold a call for proposals for the ‘Humanities Research Support Project’ until May 14.
The Humanities Research Support Project is a program by Hanse Yes24 Cultural Foundation that provides a total annual research fund of 120 million KRW to pure humanities researchers in Korea. In a reality where pure humanities are relatively neglected due to the advancement of cutting-edge science and technology, it serves as a cradle for humanities research and seeks solutions.
This call is open to those holding a doctoral degree or higher, or researchers affiliated with domestic and international universities as lecturers or professors, or research institutes, who study various humanities fields such as linguistics, literature, philosophy, history, and art history. Researchers wishing to apply for the project can check the announcement on the Hanse Yes24 Cultural Foundation website and submit their research proposals.
The foundation plans to select 10 projects according to separate evaluation regulations through a review and advisory committee. The results of the evaluation will be announced on the foundation’s website and notified individually in August. After the research is completed, research funds of up to 12 million KRW per paper will be provided only for results published in KCI-registered journals or international academic journals (A&HCI, SCOPUS).
Jo Youngsoo, Chairman of Hanse Yes24 Cultural Foundation, said, “Since the first call last year, many humanities researchers have applied and shown great interest in the Humanities Research Support Project,” and added, “We will continue to play a role in raising interest in the humanities, which are the foundation of society.”
Hanse Yes24 Cultural Foundation is a social contribution foundation established by Kim Dongnyeong, Chairman of Hanse Yes24 Holdings, who donated his private assets. It serves as a bridge for Korea and Asian countries to develop relationships that go beyond economic cooperation to mutual cultural understanding. The foundation conducts various projects such as the ‘International Cultural Exchange Exhibition,’ which introduces artworks by promising Asian artists to Korea; the ‘Southeast Asian Literature Series,’ which translates and publishes modern and contemporary literary works from Southeast Asian countries; the ‘University Student Overseas Volunteer Activities,’ which communicates with young leaders who will carry Asia’s future; and the ‘Uidang Academic Award,’ which annually selects and awards medical researchers dedicated to advancing basic medical science in Korea.
