[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 2nd that it will implement measures to eradicate illegal filming cameras in public restrooms to create a safe city free from digital sex crimes.

This measure was prepared to establish a regular inspection system for illegal filming cameras in public restrooms, alleviate residents' anxiety about digital sex crimes, and create a pleasant restroom environment.

Accordingly, Buk-gu will organize and operate a regular inspection team at the dong administrative welfare centers and management departments, and during periods such as holidays and vacation seasons, a joint inspection team consisting of civilians, government, and police will be activated for intensive inspections.

The inspection team will conduct inspections at least once a week on 279 public and open restrooms including parks, public institutions, and gas stations, while also carrying out promotional activities to prevent illegal filming by posting warning signs.

If an illegal filming camera is found during the inspection, the site will be preserved and immediately reported to the police, and if suspicious traces are discovered, stickers will be attached and repairs will be made on-site immediately.

In particular, inspection effectiveness will be enhanced through inspections linked with the Hyoryeong Senior Welfare Town Silver Safety Patrol activities and training for the inspection team on cases of illegal filming, use of detection equipment, and inspection guidelines.

Moon In, the head of Buk-gu Office, said, “We will continuously conduct inspections to eradicate illegal filming,” and added, “We will do our best to create pleasant public restrooms that residents can use safely in the future.”
