Prosecutors and Military Manpower Administration Raid Seocho District Office
Service Postponed Due to Depression Treatment
Belongs to Grooblin Led by CEO Ravi
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Rapper Nafla, the winner of the hip-hop audition program 'Show Me the Money,' is under suspicion of evading military service by not showing up for work while serving as a social service agent.
According to Dong-A Ilbo and KBS on the 1st, the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office and the Military Manpower Administration's joint investigation team on military service corruption are investigating Nafla for violating the Military Service Act. On the 30th of last month, the prosecution conducted raids on the Safety City Division of Seocho District Office and the Military Manpower Administration offices in Seoul and Daejeon to secure evidence related to the violation of the Military Service Act.
Nafla belongs to Groovelin, represented by rapper Ravi, who evaded military service through military service broker Mr. Gu. Mr. Gu arranged for false epilepsy diagnoses and submitted medical certificates to the Military Manpower Administration to apply for re-examinations, thereby reducing military service obligations.
During the investigation of Ravi and others, the prosecution confirmed Nafla's negligence in duty. Nafla is suspected of attempting to evade military service by using the split service system immediately after being enlisted as a social service agent two years ago, citing treatment for depression. He postponed his service seven times over 21 months and reportedly worked for only about three months.
Nafla won the final round of Show Me the Money in 2018 but halted activities after it was revealed that he smoked marijuana twice in 2019 and 2020. In the first trial in 2021, Nafla was sentenced to 10 months in prison with a two-year probation.
Meanwhile, last month, the prosecution indicted 22 people, including brokers who disguised epilepsy to obtain military service exemptions or lower physical examination grades and those who evaded military service, on charges of violating the Military Service Act. The prosecution is conducting additional investigations targeting suspects who evaded military service through Mr. Gu, who was detained in December. Mr. Gu's clients include actor Song Deokho, who appeared in D.P., Mr. A, the son of a former chief judge and a large law firm lawyer, and volleyball player Jo Jaeseong.
