Gwangyang 'Baegungi High School Soccer Tournament' Matchups Confirmed

39 Teams Enter Battle from the 14th to the 27th

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] The Gwangyang City Sports Council in Jeollanam-do announced on January 30th at the Seonghwang Sports Center that the matchups and tournament regulations for the "24th Baegun-gi National High School Soccer Tournament" have been finalized through a representatives' meeting.


This year's tournament will feature 39 teams, including Gwangyang Jecheol High School, and will be held across five venues: the Public Stadium, Soccer-specific Stadium, Madong Soccer Field, and others.

Gwangyang 'Baegungi High School Soccer Tournament' Matchups Confirmed Gwangyang City Sports Council finalized the matchups and tournament regulations for the "24th Baekwoonki National High School Soccer Tournament" at the representatives' meeting held on January 30 at Seonghwang Sports Center.

The first match will take place on the 14th at 10 a.m. at the Public Stadium, where Yongin Yangji FC U18 will face Yesan Sapgyo FC U18.


The competition format consists of a group league followed by a knockout stage. The first-place team in each group advances to the round of 16, while the second-place team advances to the round of 20. Preliminary rankings are determined in the order of points (win 3 points, draw 1 point, loss 0 points) → head-to-head results → goal difference → fair play → drawing lots.


From the round of 20 to the semifinals, matches tied at the end of regular time will be decided by penalty shootouts. In the final, if the match is tied, extra time (10 minutes first half + 10 minutes second half) will be played, and if still tied after extra time, the winner will be decided by penalty shootouts.


Kim Yong-seo, the newly appointed chairman of the Sports Council, urged, "As the Baegun-gi tournament has established itself as the nation's top competition, please do your best to ensure that players can perform well without serious injuries this year as well."


Meanwhile, this tournament is hosted by the Korea Football Association, Gwangyang City, and the Gwangyang City Sports Council, and organized by the Jeonnam Football Association and Gwangyang City Football Association. It will be held over 14 days from the 14th to the 27th.


The matchups are as follows:


▲ Group A: Uiwang FC U18, Yeonggwang FC U18, Cheongun High School, Anyang Technical High School


▲ Group B: Asan FC U18, Mokpo Technical High School, Gangneung Jeil High School, Gwangyang Jecheol High School


▲ Group C: Gyeongbuk Beauty Arts High School, Taeyang FC U18, Seoul Yongmun High School, Jucheon High School


▲ Group D: Seoul Technical High School, JSUN FC U18, Iri High School, Gyeonggi Cheonghak FC U18


▲ Group E: Cheonan Jeil, Hyundai High School, Hanyang Technical High School, Seohae High School


▲ Group F: Gimpo FC U18, Daegu Technical High School, Jeonju Youngsaeng High School, Cheonan Soccer Center U18
