Last Year's Top Honeymoon Destination 'Bali'
Followed by Maldives, Thailand, Hawaii, and Europe
The demand for honeymoon trips, which had been suppressed due to COVID-19, is reviving. Honeymoons hold special meaning as trips taken to promise a lifetime with a loved one.
Since these trips create unforgettable memories, couples often ponder where to go and what to see and enjoy. Accordingly, based on Interpark's announcement on the 1st about last year's 'Honeymoon Package Usage Status,' we have selected some of the recently popular honeymoon destinations.
5th Place - Europe
Europe is one of the popular destinations for newlyweds. Since honeymoons usually allow for relatively ample time, couples tend to choose long-distance destinations like Europe, which are not easily accessible.
Europe is especially ideal for exploring ancient civilizations and historical sites, as well as enjoying shopping. For luxury shopping, Italy and France are recommended, while Spain is great for food lovers.
Also popular is Malta, a Mediterranean island nation adjacent to Italy. Malta has been loved by newlyweds for its picturesque coastline and mild climate. Although Valletta, the capital, is the smallest capital city in Europe, it was recognized for its rich historical background and value, and the entire city was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1980. It is attractive because it offers a comfortable retreat along with the enjoyment of history and culture.
4th Place - Hawaii
Hawaii is the 50th state of the United States located in the eastern North Pacific and is known worldwide as the 'Paradise on Earth.' Thanks to its mild climate and beautiful nature, Hawaii is very popular and consists of eight large islands?Oahu, Big Island, Maui, Molokai, Lanai, Kauai?and over 100 smaller islands, all formed by volcanic activity.
Oahu Island, where about 90% of Hawaii's population resides, features stunning beaches and majestic volcanic cliffs. Among these, driving along the road near Diamond Head is a highly recommended tourist course. Diamond Head, a volcanic crater, is famous as a symbol of Oahu Island, and from its summit, visitors can take in the entire beautiful coastline of the island at a glance.
3rd Place - Thailand (Phuket & Koh Samui)
Phuket, well known among domestic travelers, is an island in the Indian Ocean located 862 km from Bangkok, the capital of Thailand. It is about 12 times larger than the area of Gangnam-gu in Seoul, and features a stunning combination of 32 surrounding small islands, a diverse coastline, limestone cliffs, and forested hills.
Another representative tourist spot in Thailand is Phi Phi Island, introduced through the Leonardo DiCaprio-starring movie 'The Beach.' Phi Phi Island is a towering island in the sea about a two-hour boat ride from Phuket, and it is considered a must-visit course for tourists visiting Phuket.
Meanwhile, Koh Samui, the third largest island in Thailand, is also popular. In Thai, 'Koh' means 'island' and 'Samui' means 'clean.' As its name suggests, this place is characterized by its pristine natural environment.
The most beautiful beach on Koh Samui is Chaweng Beach, located on the east side of the island. This beach features a long stretch of beautiful, soft white sand, extending approximately 7 km. With clear and transparent waters and relatively shallow depths, it is also a place where families can enjoy a relaxing vacation together.
2nd Place - Maldives
The charm of the Maldives lies in its stunning natural scenery. The pristine white sandy beaches, emerald-colored sea, and orange-hued sunsets combine to evoke the nicknames 'Island of Romance' and 'Fantasy Sea.'
The Maldives is especially popular for its various marine activities. Snorkeling with giant manta rays and scuba diving to see the diverse and colorful marine life of the Indian Ocean are marine activities unique to the Maldives. This is why the Maldives is recommended as a honeymoon destination.
1st Place - Bali
The most popular honeymoon destination is Bali, known as the 'Island of the Gods.' Bali offers magnificent views and nature of the Indian Ocean. It is perfect for quietly spending healing time together.
The top attractions in Bali are Tanah Lot Sea Temple and Uluwatu Cliff Temple. Both are located in unique coastal spots, and the sacred atmosphere and mystique of the temples evoke a special sense of awe.
