Busan Gijang-gun Health Center Fully Resumes Mother and Child Health Classes

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Busan Gijang-gun will fully resume and operate the maternal and child health class education at the Gijang-gun Public Health Center, which had been partially suspended due to COVID-19, starting from March this year.

The maternal and child health class is an educational program designed to provide accurate information about pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare to promote safe and healthy delivery and to enhance the health of the fetus and mother.

Due to COVID-19, the program was completely suspended from 2020 but was partially resumed in the second half of last year, focusing on non-face-to-face and one-on-one education.

This year, considering the prolonged COVID-19 situation and educational demand, it was decided to fully operate the program from March, ranging from non-face-to-face and one-on-one education methods to face-to-face sessions by program.

The 2023 maternal and child health class is planned with a total of 7 programs and 76 sessions, starting with the childbirth preparation class in March, followed by Mom & Baby Yoga Plus, one-on-one breastfeeding coaching classes, grandparent childcare classes, newlywed special lectures, forest prenatal education, and postpartum depression prevention education.

Applications for each program will be accepted by phone on a first-come, first-served basis until the 20th of the month prior to the program's start, and participants who complete all sessions of each program will receive a small commemorative gift.

Detailed schedules and operational information can be found on the Gijang-gun website's notice board or by contacting the Maternal and Child Health Office at the Jeonggwan Health Branch.

A representative from the Gijang-gun Public Health Center stated, “We will strive to provide accurate information about pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare through well-organized maternal and child health classes to promote safe and healthy delivery and improve the health of the fetus and mother.”
