[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] Renault Korea Motors announced on the 1st that it achieved monthly global sales of 10,045 units in January, with 2,116 units sold domestically and 7,929 units exported.
In the domestic market, the coupe-type sport utility vehicle (SUV) XM3 led Renault Korea's domestic sales by selling 1,019 units in January alone. The XM3 E-Tech Hybrid, equipped with a hybrid drive system closest to an electric vehicle and selected as this year's Hybrid SUV by automotive journalists, recorded 360 units delivered.
The mid-size SUV QM6 sold 877 units. The QM6 LPe model, which applies a patented LPG donut tank mounting system, accounted for 573 units, about 65% of total QM6 sales.
The mid-size sedan SM6 sold 220 units, a 77.4% increase compared to the same month last year. The SM6 'Feel (必; Feel)' trim, newly configured with customer-preferred features, accounted for about 60% of total SM6 sales with 130 units. Compared to the existing LE trim, the SM6 Feel lowered the price by 940,000 KRW while incorporating most of the features preferred by consumers in the LE trim as standard equipment.
Renault Korea's exports in January decreased by about 10% year-on-year due to recent difficulties in securing dedicated car carriers and increased export logistics costs. A total of 7,929 units were shipped, including 6,021 units of the XM3 (export name Renault Arkana), 1,855 units of the QM6 (export name Renault Koleos), and 53 units of the Twizy.
