Last Year's WTCR Double Champion Commemorative Employee Event
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Gyumin] Hyundai Motor Company is holding various events, including vehicle exhibitions and meetings with past champions for employees, in the lobby on the first floor of its headquarters in Yangjae-dong, Seoul, for two weeks from the 30th to the 10th to celebrate achieving double championships in the 2022 WTCR (World Touring Car Cup).
This event was planned to commemorate Hyundai Motor Sports winning both the driver and team championship titles in the 2022 WTCR. Driver Mikel Azcona competed with the Elantra N TCR and achieved the overall driver championship. The overall team championship was won by the BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse team, thanks to the performances of Mikel Azcona and Norbert Michelisz.

Along with them, five people including Gabriele Tarquini, the inaugural WTCR champion in 2018, Andrea Cisotti, Chief Engineer of Hyundai Motorsport Customer Racing (HMSG), and Gabriele Rizzo, BRC team manager, held a WTCR championship story and Q&A session for employees on the afternoon of the 1st.
In the headquarters lobby, the Elantra N TCR, the winning car of last year’s WTCR, the championship trophy, and the regular production vehicle Avante N are on display, and various products of Hyundai Motor Company’s high-performance brand ‘N’ can also be seen.
Til Vattenberg, Executive Director of Hyundai Motor Company’s N Brand Management and Motorsport Division, said, “We prepared this event to share the great achievement of the 2022 WTCR double championship with our employees,” adding, “Hyundai Motor Company will continue to challenge the global motorsports stage with the high-performance brand N and strive to present vehicles that bring joy to customers.”
