[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety announced on the 1st that it will promote the 'Visiting Customized Hygiene Management Technical Support (Consulting)' project in collaboration with the Korea Food Safety Management Certification Institute to ease the burden on small business owners operating restaurants.

This project is open to any self-employed person preparing for hygiene grade designation. Participants will receive free one-on-one technical support to help them understand the restaurant hygiene grade evaluation criteria and enable them to participate in the restaurant hygiene grading system in the future.

The restaurant hygiene grading system evaluates the hygiene level of restaurants wishing to be designated a hygiene grade and assigns a grade in three levels based on the score: 'Excellent (★★★)', 'Good (★★)', and 'Fair (★)'.

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety plans to support a total of 1,800 locations this year, and especially for 500 small business owners who face difficulties in hygiene management due to manpower shortages, dedicated management will be provided through multiple visits from the preparation of the restaurant hygiene grade application to the completion of the designation.

An official from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety said, "We expect this customized technical support project to improve the hygiene management level of restaurants and contribute to the activation of the restaurant hygiene grading system," adding, "We will continue to do our best so that the public can use restaurants with confidence."
