Discussion on Key Projects for Municipal Issues and National Fund Securing, Exploring Joint Cooperation Measures
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Gangneung City announced on the 1st that "a Gangneung City current issues briefing session will be held at the city hall situation room with Mayor Kim Hong-gyu, the vice mayor, directors, and other senior officials in attendance, inviting National Assembly member Kwon Seong-dong."
This briefing session was organized to closely share Gangneung City's development plans and major current projects with the local district National Assembly member and to discuss proactive measures for securing national funding.
This year, the city secured a record-high national budget of 396.7 billion KRW. The city will report on the comprehensive development plan for Gangneung during the 8th term of the elected mayor and the major current projects targeted for national funding in 2024. It will also request the local district National Assembly member's interest and support to secure the maximum possible national budget for the next year.
The major national budget-supported projects in Gangneung for next year include ▲Aging water supply network modernization project (total project cost 46.3 billion KRW) with 3.1 billion KRW ▲Songjeong treatment district sewage pipeline maintenance project (total project cost 16 billion KRW) with 3.8 billion KRW ▲Ponam 2 treatment district sewage pipeline maintenance and flood prevention project (total project cost 43.4 billion KRW) with 8.1 billion KRW ▲Natural materials full-cycle standardization support hub construction project (total project cost 30 billion KRW) with 4.5 billion KRW ▲National Road No. 7 expansion project ▲Jeongdongjin IC and TG construction, etc.
The major national projects include ▲Gangneung~Jejin railway construction (total project cost 2.7406 trillion KRW) with 787.2 billion KRW ▲Songjeong Unjeong district drainage improvement project (total project cost 11 billion KRW) with 3 billion KRW ▲Establishment of the Gangwon branch of the National Gugak Center (total project cost 45 billion KRW) with 5 billion KRW ▲Construction of the National East Sea Museum (total project cost 50 billion KRW) with 300 million KRW, etc.
