Mokpo Mayor Park Hong-ryul Urges Assemblywoman Jo Su-jin for "Special Grant Support Needed"

Request for Support to Establish Coastal Cave Trails and Expand Infrastructure in Ceramic Industrial Complex

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Park Hong-ryul, mayor of Mokpo City, has initiated efforts to secure national funding for 2023 by requesting special grant funds from Jo Su-jin, a member of the People Power Party.

On the 31st, Mayor Park visited Mokpo City with Representative Jo, touring the Gohado Marine Deck and the Ceramic Industrial Complex, explaining the progress of ongoing projects and the necessity of special grant fund support.

The projects for which Mayor Park requested support amount to 4 billion KRW for two projects: the creation of a coastal cave trail at the Gohado Marine Deck and the expansion of infrastructure in the Ceramic Industrial Complex.

The creation of the coastal cave trail at the Gohado Marine Deck is a project to build a trail connected to the existing marine deck, enabling safe viewing of the naturally preserved coastal caves from the sea.

Once completed, the city expects this to become a tourist resource where visitors can enjoy the pristine natural scenery while also glimpsing the pains of modern history.

The expansion of infrastructure in the Ceramic Industrial Complex involves opening roads and expanding water and sewage facilities to convert some plots within the complex into public rental land for young entrepreneurs.

The city plans to subdivide the land into small plots preferred by users, create access roads, and convert them into public rental sale sites to revitalize the Ceramic Industrial Complex and promote youth job creation.

Mayor Park Hong-ryul stated, “We will make every effort to secure special grant funds this year as well, so that projects for the development of Mokpo can be carried out smoothly and swiftly.”

Meanwhile, special grant funds are budgets allocated by the government considering urgent local government projects or unexpected special financial needs such as disasters. These funds are used for local issues and disaster and safety sectors. Last year, the city secured a record-high amount of 8.3 billion KRW across 25 cases.
