Middle-aged and Older Adult Life Planning Readiness Index
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] The Seoul Metropolitan 50 Plus Foundation announced on the 1st that it has developed the ‘Middle-aged Life Design Readiness Index,’ which allows middle-aged individuals to first assess their level of preparedness before planning and designing their future lives.
The newly developed index consists of a total of 30 questions that measure the readiness level of middle-aged individuals for life design. By using the Life Design Readiness Index to measure preparedness, individuals can check their current status, and the government and local authorities can utilize the data as a basis for establishing more effective policies for the middle-aged population.
The foundation will conduct a survey this year targeting 10,000 middle-aged residents of Seoul to assess their life design readiness and will carry out in-depth research based on the survey results. The report on the development of the Middle-aged Life Design Readiness Index is available on the 50+ portal.
Hwang Yoonju, head of the Policy Research Team at the Seoul Metropolitan 50 Plus Foundation, said, “This research is significant in that it newly developed an index suitable for measuring life design readiness needed in the current era,” adding, “We hope that this index development will serve as foundational data for designing a happy life for the middle-aged and as a cornerstone for highly effective support policies for the middle-aged.”
