Every 10th of the Month... A Day to Check My Mental Health!
Self-Assessment Available on Nam and Buk District Health Center Websites
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Pohang City Nam-gu Public Health Center conducted a promotional campaign on the 31st at Cheolgilsup to activate mental health checkups for local residents under the operation of ‘Mind Check Day’.
On the 31st, Pohang-si Nam-gu Health Center conducted a promotional campaign for the operation of 'Mind Check Day' at Cheolgilsup.
On this day, Nam-gu Public Health Center staff handed out promotional materials related to ‘Mind Check Day’ to citizens using Cheolgilsup and took the time to inform them about mental health checkups.
‘Mind Check Day,’ held on the 10th of every month, is jointly operated by Gyeongbuk Province and the provincial mental health welfare centers with the purpose of early detection of high-risk groups such as the increasing number of suicide deaths and those experiencing depression, linking them to specialized institutions, and raising citizens’ interest in mental health checkups to reflect on their own minds.
Accordingly, the mental health welfare centers of Nam-gu and Buk-gu have installed a popup window on the public health center’s website to allow anyone to easily take mental health checkups, and after the test, those identified as high-risk will receive professional services from the mental health welfare centers with their consent.
Participation in the mental health checkup can be done by accessing the Nam-gu and Buk-gu public health center websites, then following the sequence: ‘Mind Check Day’ popup window - Take Mental Health Checkup - Conduct Self-Assessment.
The self-assessment items include depression, stress, anxiety, addiction, and psychosis. For those who have difficulty accessing online services, counseling at the mental health welfare centers and outreach psychological support programs will be provided.
Kim Jeong-im, director of Nam-gu Public Health Center, stated, “We hope that residents who have experienced physical and emotional difficulties due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and disasters such as typhoons will take an interest in mental health and take care of their own minds.”
