Jeju Western Fire Station Conducts Special Rescue Training for Water-Related Accidents

[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] Jeju Western Fire Station (Chief Kim Young-ho) announced on the 31st that it conducted a special rescue training for water-related accidents from the 31st to the 1st of next month at the Halla Indoor Swimming Pool in Jeju Sports Complex.

On this day, all 119 rescue team members of the Western Fire Station participated, and the training was conducted as practical drills to establish a rapid response system in case of water-related accidents.


The main training contents included ▲ emergency response procedures during winter water rescue activities ▲ water and underwater life-saving training ▲ two-person team underwater search methods ▲ water accident response procedures and safety accident prevention education.


Chief Kim Young-ho said, “Through this training, we will enhance the professionalism of the rescue team members and focus on securing the safety of residents through rapid response in emergencies,” adding, “We will do our best to prepare for water-related life accidents.”


Meanwhile, the number of dispatches for water-related accidents in the jurisdiction has been increasing every year (140 cases in 2020, 144 cases in 2021, 248 cases in 2022), showing a 72% (104 cases) increase compared to the previous year, and the number of rescued people (23 in 2021, 77 in 2022) has also been increasing annually.
