Containing Research Results on Personal Information Protection
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] On the 31st, Naver published the "Naver Privacy White Paper," which contains specialized research results on privacy conducted throughout 2022, and the "Naver Personal Information Protection Report," summarizing Naver's personal information protection activities.
Since 2015, Naver has been publishing the "Privacy White Paper" annually, which includes specialized research results from academia and research fields on the topics of personal information protection and privacy. The newly released "2022 Naver Privacy White Paper" contains research results on ▲ Comparative study on lawful processing requirements of personal information (Professor Hyunkyung Kim, Seoul National University of Science and Technology) and ▲ Considerations for personal information protection in artificial intelligence (Attorney Doyeop Kim, Law Firm (Limited) Taepyungyang).
Naver will hold a webinar on the 10th of next month, focusing on the research topics covered in this Privacy White Paper. The webinar will discuss reasonable personal information protection systems to achieve a data-driven digital transformation while safely protecting data subjects.
Along with the "2022 Privacy White Paper," the "2022 Naver Personal Information Protection Report" was also released, revealing the major personal information and privacy protection activities Naver conducted throughout the year. Since 2012, Naver has disclosed key domestic personal information issues and its responses annually through the "Personal Information Protection Report."
This year's Personal Information Protection Report includes trends in the increasingly expanded and strengthened protection and self-regulation of children and adolescent personal information, personal information protection activities related to IT companies' global expansion efforts, and top-level personal information protection activities conducted at the tech convergence building "1784."
Jinkyu Lee, Naver's Chief Privacy Officer, stated, "It is meaningful that through the Privacy White Paper and Personal Information Protection Report, we have recorded and preserved significant research results in the field of personal information and privacy, as well as the issues and Naver's activities in this area over the past year." He added, "As an internet platform company leading the personal information protection field, we will continue to produce and share valuable materials."
