Since its establishment in 2020, members of the ‘Hanttam Happiness Knitting Talent Volunteer Group’ have been honing their knitting skills to an expert level through systematic training, and have been practicing a warm sharing culture by delivering various handmade daily consumables to the local community.
In particular, even amid the COVID-19 situation, they did not stop their donation activities by making items at their own homes, drawing attention as a good example of untact (Untact) volunteer activities.
Through this, the volunteer group was able to deliver a total of 3,820 items such as scarves, bags, knee blankets, cushions, and scrubbers to underprivileged groups in the region over the past three years.
At the event, the members took time to deliver a total of 331 finished products, including scarves, bags, blankets, and cushions carefully made this year, to neighbors around them.
The completed knitted products will be delivered to about six welfare facilities including senior welfare institutions in the district.
On this day, volunteer group leader Park Ok-hee said, “I hope the works made by the members with their own hands can deliver warm affection to those marginalized around us,” and added, “We will continue to make every effort to be a Hanttam Happiness Knitting Volunteer Group that coexists with our local community with the mindset of being a corporate citizen.”
Meanwhile, since 2014, Gwangyang Steelworks has been operating 46 talent volunteer groups that incorporate employees’ skills, experiences, hobbies, and other talents into volunteering, and plans to actively strive to realize a company that works together with the local community through various other volunteer activities and sharing.
