Good Neighbors Donates 201.3 Million KRW in Educational Contributions to Busan Metropolitan Office of Education

Hope Letter Writing Contest Event Held Together

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education received an educational donation of 201.3 million KRW from Good Neighbors Busan·Ulsan·Gyeongnam Headquarters on the 30th.

The donation will be used as funding for projects such as supporting children suffering from food insecurity, supporting the dreams of children from vulnerable groups, and supporting children from impoverished families.

At the donation ceremony, the '15th Hope Letter Writing Contest' event was also held. Superintendent Ha Yun-su wrote the first letter from the Busan area to Eunice, a student in Tanzania.

This contest is sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ministry of Health and Welfare, Ministry of Employment and Labor, Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, National Human Rights Commission, and 17 metropolitan and provincial offices of education, and hosted by Good Neighbors.

Good Neighbors has been operating this event annually since 2009 in cooperation with the government and local governments to foster global citizenship. This year, approximately 2.3 million people from 4,400 institutions nationwide are expected to participate by May 31.

Ha Yun-su, Superintendent of Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, said, “We are grateful to Good Neighbors for supporting students in need every year,” and added, “Our education office will also strive to help students grow into talented individuals with warm character who know how to care for neighbors in difficulty.”
