Conducting 'All Members Training' for Major Accident Prevention
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Gwangsan District Council of Gwangju Metropolitan City (Chairman Kim Taewan) is accelerating efforts to strengthen the capabilities of its council members.
On the 31st, the Gwangsan District Council announced that it conducted a "full council member training" for the prevention of major accidents.
This program was promoted to acquire knowledge of related laws and establish measures to prevent industrial accidents following the enforcement of the "Serious Accidents Punishment Act."
A current labor attorney served as the instructor, covering topics such as ▲Understanding the Serious Accidents Punishment Act and the Industrial Safety and Health Act ▲Establishing a safety and health management system in the public sector.
The attending council members agreed that this training was especially timely as the incidence of major accidents has recently surged, leading to strengthened responsibilities and obligations for local governments in safety management.
Chairman Kim Taewan stated, "In the case of industrial accidents, it directly concerns the safety and lives of district residents, so it requires special attention and vigilance above all matters," adding, "Since Gwangsan District has established a Serious Accident Prevention Team this year to establish a public safety cooperation system, I hope institutional support will be provided to all workers and small business owners at various industrial sites."
Meanwhile, the Gwangsan District Council regularly promotes planned lectures to enhance political responsiveness and the professionalism of council activities in response to social changes.
