Busan Agricultural Technology Center Operates '2023 Farmers' University Industrial Insect Beekeeping Course'

Fostering the Beekeeping Industry and Creating New Income Sources for Farmers

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] The Busan Agricultural Technology Center will operate the ‘2023 Agricultural College Industrial Insect Beekeeping Course’ for Busan farmers and citizens from February 15 to October 18.

The ‘Industrial Insect Beekeeping Course,’ conducted for three years since 2020 to foster the Busan beekeeping industry and create new income sources for farms, combines theoretical and practical education on beekeeping. This year, it will be held as a long-term course of 26 sessions totaling 100 hours over about eight months for approximately 30 Busan farmers and citizens.

Through the industrial insect beekeeping course, trainees will acquire various basic knowledge about beekeeping, such as seasonal beekeeping management techniques and pest control methods, and will have hands-on experience in processes like pollen collection, honey harvesting, and pesticide application. They will also gain new beekeeping techniques and information through on-site training at leading beekeeping farms.

Kim Jeong-guk, director of the Busan Agricultural Technology Center, said, “We hope that this specialized beekeeping education will greatly contribute to revitalizing the Busan beekeeping industry and creating new income sources for farms,” and urged many farmers and citizens interested in beekeeping to participate and show interest.
