LG Uplus Expands 'Altteul Phone+' Specialty Stores for Small and Medium MVNOs Nationwide

[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] LG Uplus announced on the 31st that it will expand its offline consulting specialty stores, ‘Altteul Phone+ (Plus)’, which sell plans from small and medium-sized MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) operators, nationwide.

‘Altteul Phone+’ is an offline specialty store established by LG Uplus to promote mutual growth with small and medium-sized MVNO operators. It is the only one operated by LG Uplus among the three major telecom companies to provide plan and AS consultation services for small and medium MVNO operators who have no customer contact points other than online.

Following the opening of the first store at Homeplus Hapjeong branch in Mapo-gu, Seoul, in January last year, seven additional stores will open starting next month. At the Altteul Phone+ Hapjeong branch, more than 180 customers on average per month received consultations last year and subscribed to U+ Altteul Phone products.

The newly opening Altteul Phone+ stores will be located at Homeplus branches nationwide, including ▲Incheon Jakjeon branch (Gyeyang-gu, Incheon) ▲Yatap branch (Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi) ▲Dongdaemun branch (Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul) ▲Daegu Sangin branch (Dalseo-gu, Daegu) ▲Seobusan branch (Sasang-gu, Busan) ▲Daejeon Munhwa branch (Jung-gu, Daejeon) ▲Donggwangju branch (Buk-gu, Gwangju). LG Uplus will fully cover costs related to rent and other entry expenses.

At Altteul Phone+, services such as ▲plan subscription ▲additional services ▲bill payment ▲CS support are provided for small and medium operators including Ins Korea, Keun Saram, Unicoms, Inscobi, Smatel, Sejong Telecom, and Eyes Vision, excluding LG Uplus subsidiaries.

Since 2019, LG Uplus has been actively supporting small and medium MVNO operators through the ‘U+ Altteul Phone Partners’ program. Last year, under the strategy to turn Altteul Phone customers into LG Uplus’s ‘true fans’, it launched ‘U+ Altteul Phone Partners 2.0’.

Through U+ Altteul Phone Partners 2.0, LG Uplus supports ▲Altteul Phone exclusive discount cards ▲Altteul Phone CS at over 1,800 U+ stores nationwide ▲affordable supply of unlocked devices ▲launch of shared Altteul Phone SIM cards. Since last year, it has expanded online non-face-to-face self-activation services so customers can conveniently subscribe to Altteul Phone anywhere nationwide and supplies the U+ Altteul Phone shared SIM ‘One Chip’.

Yu Hoseong, head of LG Uplus MVNO business, said, “Through operating the Hapjeong branch last year, we were able to achieve mutual growth between mobile carriers and small and medium MVNO operators. We decided to open additional stores to strengthen synergy between LG Uplus and small and medium MVNO operators, and we will continue to expand win-win measures going forward.”
