The PKNU Social Contribution Volunteer Group has been conducting residential environment improvement volunteer activities at about 100 locations near the university during vacations or weekends since 2006.
Students from the PKNU Social Contribution Volunteer Group at Pukyong National University are carrying out volunteer activities to improve living environments.
This year, about 40 volunteer students participated in the home repair volunteer activities during the winter vacation. They moved all the interior furnishings, removed stained and moldy wallpaper to re-wallpaper, and replaced the flooring sheets.
They dismantled the old gas stove and hood and installed new products, replaced the old aluminum windows with double-glazed windows to keep warm during winter, repaired the front door with a broken doorknob, and also repainted the bathroom and installed insulation materials to maintain the facilities.
Tasks requiring expertise such as electrical work were carried out with the participation of Pukyong National University’s facilities department staff, while Busan Nam-gu Office and Nam-gu Volunteer Center supported by recommending vulnerable households and providing garbage bags and waste collection.
Kim Dae-han, the representative student of the volunteer group, said, “We hope this activity will be a small help for our neighbors to overcome the cold and difficulties, and the PKNU Social Contribution Volunteer Group will continue to take the lead in solving the difficulties of the local community together.”
