Landless 'Seumateu Nongbu' Oiso... Agricultural Startup Complex in Sangju

Gyeongbuk Province, "Selected for Contest, 3ha Development in Hamchang-eup"

2.7 Billion KRW National Funding, Linked to Smart Farm Innovation Valley

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Koo Dae-sun] The area around Geumgok-ri, Hamchang-eup, Sangju-si, Gyeongbuk, has been selected for the 'Agricultural Startup Complex Creation' contest project hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.

This project is a Gyeongbuk-do initiative to support young farmers who wish to start smart farms but face difficulties in securing farmland.

A total of 2.7 billion KRW in national funds will be invested in the selected Geumgok-ri area to create a 3-hectare smart farm complex.

The Korea Rural Community Corporation will purchase national and public land, organize the fields to enable smart farm cultivation, and improve access roads and irrigation and drainage channels, then lease or sell the land long-term to young farmers.

The Geumgok-ri area is close to the Smart Farm Innovation Valley, allowing young people who have completed education and gained farming experience at the Innovation Valley to have opportunities to continue managing smart farms in the region.

Kim Ju-ryeong, Director of the Agriculture, Livestock and Distribution Bureau of Gyeongsangbuk-do, said, "With the selection in this contest project, the biggest obstacle for young smart farm startups, securing farmland, has been resolved," and added, "We will support young people who have gained farming experience in connection with the Smart Farm Innovation Valley to continue pursuing their dreams."
