[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] As the presidential office decided to file a criminal complaint against Kim Eui-gyeom, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, who raised additional manipulation allegations against First Lady Kim Geon-hee, Park Yong-jin, a Democratic Party lawmaker, criticized, saying, "They react so strongly only regarding the Kim Geon-hee case."
On the 30th, on BBS's 'Jeon Young-shin's Morning Journal,' Rep. Park said, "It is only natural to investigate if there are any criminal suspicions or circumstances related not only to the president but also to the president's wife.

He stated, "Trials related to the Deutsche Motors stock manipulation suspects are already underway, and during the trial process, circumstances different from the positions the president expressed during the confirmation hearing as a nominee for Prosecutor General or during his presidential candidacy through various broadcasts and media have been revealed. It has been confirmed that the president lied in about 7 to 8 instances," adding, "Then, whether the president knew or did not know about the issues related to Mrs. Kim, there should naturally be an investigation, but no investigation is being conducted at all."
In this regard, the first trial verdict for former Deutsche Motors Chairman Kwon Oh-soo will be delivered on the 10th of next month. Rep. Park said, "The verdict for the first trial is on the 10th, and it is somewhat puzzling that no investigation is proceeding," adding, "It seems clear that Mrs. Kim was involved not just as a simple 'jjeonju (jeonju·錢主)' but in a more concrete and active way." 'Jjeonju' is a slang term meaning a person who provides large funds, referring in the stock market to someone who finances stock manipulation groups.
He said, "Since the financial authorities have never declared this issue as innocent or dismissed it, the investigative authorities must thoroughly investigate to rectify this issue," adding, "If the prosecution is unable to act because they are intimidated by the president, this would effectively make them a kind of sacred family."
He continued, "Because of the sacred families in Yongsan, a kind of sanctuary is being created for the stock manipulation that causes the blood, sweat, and tears of small investors, and people with money, power, and connections manipulate stocks and all escape unscathed. The moment such public suspicion is confirmed, the trust in the capital market will completely disappear, causing the biggest hole in our economy," raising his voice.
Regarding the verdict on the 10th, he said, "The prosecution has already requested a fairly heavy sentence for those whose accounts were used as 'jjeonju' besides Mrs. Kim," adding, "From the same standpoint, Mrs. Kim should at least be investigated, but if she is completely excluded from the investigation and ignored, this is not the prosecution realizing social justice but only protecting private justice."
