Boy Asleep During Hide-and-Seek Found 3,220km Away in Foreign Country After 6 Days Missing

Bangladeshi Teen Rescued at Malaysian Port
Fell Asleep Inside Container While Playing Hide and Seek

A teenage boy from Bangladesh was rescued at a Malaysian port after hiding in a container while playing hide-and-seek and being trapped there for six days.

According to foreign media including the New York Post on the 29th (local time), Fahim (15), who was playing with friends at the port of Chittagong, Bangladesh on the 11th, hid inside a container waiting to be shipped while playing hide-and-seek. At that time, Fahim fell asleep inside the container, and during that time, the container was loaded onto a cargo ship and set sail.

When Fahim opened his eyes, the entrance of the container was locked. The container carrying Fahim was discovered by port workers and police at Klang Port in Malaysia, 3,700 km away, six days later on the 17th.

At that time, port workers heard sounds of a person inside the container while unloading it and reported it to the police. When the police opened the container, Fahim walked out weakly and asked for help in Bengali.

Having eaten nothing for six days, Fahim had a fever and showed signs of dehydration when found. He was immediately transported to a hospital for examination.

When Fahim was found, the police suspected he might be involved in human trafficking. However, the investigation found no evidence of criminal involvement. Malaysian authorities explained, "The boy simply went into the container and fell asleep. Then he found himself in a foreign country."

Meanwhile, Fahim is expected to return to Bangladesh once he has fully recovered.
