Stable Advancement of Existing Business and Active Pursuit of New Business Development
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Song Jong-gu] Namhae-gun, Gyeongnam Province, held the '2024 National and Provincial Subsidy Securing Strategy Meeting' attended by County Governor Jang Chung-nam, Deputy Governor Ryu Hae-seok, and all former heads of departments and divisions.
The target amount for national and provincial subsidies set by Namhae-gun for 2024 is 220.6 billion KRW, which is an 8.9% increase compared to the 203.5 billion KRW secured in 2023.
Namhae-gun plans to make every effort to secure the budget necessary for building various infrastructures such as connecting road networks in line with the full-scale commencement of the Namhae-Yeosu Undersea Tunnel construction, as well as developing new tourism products.
Additionally, the focus will be on ensuring that large-scale self-funded projects are reflected in the national and provincial subsidies, while intensively reviewing strategic projects that align with the county administration goals and government policies.
In primary industries such as agriculture, forestry, livestock, fisheries, and ecological and forest tourism sectors that can respond to climate change, Namhae-gun also plans to proactively discover new projects.
In particular, for projects where construction costs have significantly increased due to the global economic downturn and rapid rise in raw material prices, the county is determined to make active and aggressive efforts to build an organic cooperative system with Gyeongnam Province, the National Assembly, and the government to increase national and provincial subsidies to ensure smooth progress.
At the meeting held on the 27th, Namhae-gun presented a total of 76 projects for securing national and provincial subsidies in 2024, including 22 ongoing projects such as the Namhae-Yeosu Undersea Tunnel and the construction of the Namhae Police Training Center, 40 new projects such as Podium Space and Jewel Namhae - Healing Marine Leisure Tourism City development, and 14 public contest projects such as convenience facility construction around traditional markets and fishing village vitality promotion projects.
Based on the discussions at the meeting, Namhae-gun plans to further supplement and specify the national and provincial subsidy securing plan by March to April, when the central government's budget work intensifies.
Governor Jang said, "We must clearly and actively express the feasibility, urgency, and necessity of the projects to stably secure the national and provincial subsidies we aim for," adding, "While utilizing the ideas of young employees, please also make every effort to attract small-scale public contest projects that can satisfy residents in their daily lives, even if they are not large-scale budgets."
Deputy Governor Ryu said, "Approaching specifically with a focus on essential projects through selection and concentration can be more effective in securing the budget," and added, "Let's integrate overlapping projects through interdepartmental collaboration and engage with the central government based on concrete data."
