[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] On the 29th, Kim Eui-gyeom, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, made an unusual statement welcoming the presidential office's consideration of filing a complaint regarding allegations of stock manipulation involving First Lady Kim Keon-hee, saying, "I wholeheartedly welcome it."
Through social media (SNS) on the same day, Kim stated, "The presidential office says they will file a complaint against me, Kim Eui-gyeom, the spokesperson for the Democratic Party of Korea," expressing this position.
He explained, "Following Deutsche Motors, I additionally suggested the possibility that First Lady Kim Keon-hee was involved in another manipulated stock, 'Woori Technology.' Looking at the flow, Deutsche Motors and Woori Technology are inseparable. To understand the substance of the case, both 'operations' must be examined together."
Kim said, "The prosecution has not even conducted a written investigation of First Lady Kim Keon-hee regarding Deutsche Motors," adding, "If the Yongsan presidential office wants to file a complaint against me and punish me, First Lady Kim's role related to Deutsche Motors and Woori Technology must be prioritized for investigation. This is a good opportunity to properly investigate her."
Regarding the police's plan to file a complaint, he said, "The police will be under the prosecution's command, and the prosecution is filled with subordinates of President Yoon Seok-yeol. It is hard to trust their fairness," and added, "If President Yoon Seok-yeol and his wife are truly innocent, they should accept a 'Kim Keon-hee special investigation.'" He said, "Wouldn't that special investigation fairly clear First Lady Kim's innocence? If my claims are proven wrong, I will accept any punishment without complaint."
