Geumcheon-gu Announces Public Interest Activity Support Project for Nonprofit Private Organizations Competition

Subsidy support in six areas including village community revitalization projects, social welfare enhancement for vulnerable groups, and improvement of residents' perception of urban safety

Applications accepted by visiting the project department, email, or mail until February 8

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yoo Seong-hoon) is calling for applications for the Nonprofit Private Organization Public Interest Activity Support Project until February 8.

The "Nonprofit Private Organization Public Interest Activity Support Project" is a project in which Geumcheon-gu solicits projects to foster and encourage nonprofit private organizations conducting public interest activities, aiming to expand resident participation and promote the healthy growth of private organizations.

Nonprofit private organizations or nonprofit corporations primarily engaged in public interest activities that meet the following criteria can participate in the application: ▲organizations eligible for subsidies based on laws or ordinances ▲organizations whose direct beneficiaries are residents of Geumcheon-gu ▲organizations with at least 20 members (Geumcheon-gu residents) and a record of public interest activities for more than one year (as of the announcement date) ▲organizations able to bear at least 5% of the requested subsidy as self-funding. However, organizations or individuals with a social gathering nature or for-profit purposes, companies, political party support groups, religious organizations, or those not considered public interest organizations, as well as organizations receiving overlapping support from national or local governments for the same (or similar) projects, are excluded.

The support areas include six fields: village community revitalization, improvement of residents' perception of urban safety, volunteer work and welfare enhancement for vulnerable groups, reduction of household waste and environmental protection, promotion of culture, arts and sports, and other public interest projects.

Applications can be submitted by visiting, email, or mail to the relevant project department (organization support department) by February 8.

Whether subsidies are granted, the scale, and the amount of support will be decided through the Geumcheon-gu Subsidy Deliberation Committee in March, then announced on the Geumcheon-gu Office website and individually notified to the organizations.

Mayor Yoo Seong-hoon of Geumcheon-gu stated, “We will provide equal participation opportunities through the project call and support fairly and rationally through the Subsidy Deliberation Committee review. For selected organizations, we will ensure transparency in execution through performance evaluation and inspection, and actively reflect the results in the operation and support of subsidies in the following year.”
