[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] The police and the National Intelligence Service have arrested four individuals related to the 'Changwon Spy Group Case.'
According to authorities on the 28th, the police executed arrest warrants against these individuals in the morning on charges of violating the National Security Act related to the Jazutongil Minjung Jeonwi.
The four arrested include two from Changwon, Gyeongnam, one from Jinju, and one from Seoul.
Jazutongil Minjung Jeonwi is an organization formed around 2016, centered in Changwon, Gyeongnam. Those active in progressive groups in the Gyeongnam region reportedly contacted North Korean-related personnel in Southeast Asian countries such as Cambodia and received instructions.
Authorities conducted searches of residences and offices of members of the Gyeongnam Progressive Union last November on suspicion of violating the National Security Act.
