Man Detained After Attempting to Rob Gold Shop in Songpa, Seoul

[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] A man who tried to rob a jewelry store in Songpa-gu, Seoul with a hammer was instead subdued and has been detained.


On the 28th, Min Seongcheol, chief judge of the Seoul Eastern District Court, held a pre-arrest detention hearing for a man in his 30s, Mr. A, and issued an arrest warrant citing concerns that he might flee.


Mr. A is suspected of entering a jewelry store in Geoyeo-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul at 11 a.m. on the 27th, threatening the owner in his 60s with a hammer, and attempting to steal valuables. During the struggle, Mr. A was subdued and was arrested by the police at a nearby hospital.


Since then, the Songpa Police Station in Seoul has applied for an arrest warrant for Mr. A and is continuing the investigation.
