[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] Shinsegae International announced on the 29th that it will launch the sneaker collection ‘Pleindogg (#PLEINDOGG)’, a collaboration between the Swiss luxury brand Philipp Plein and the legendary American hip-hop musician Snoop Dogg.
The product will be available for pre-sale from 8 PM on the 30th through Shinsegae International’s live commerce platform S.I.LIVE. Shinsegae International imports and sells Philipp Plein products.
The Pleindogg collection is inspired by Philipp Plein’s distinctive gothic style and Snoop Dogg’s music and fashion style. It is a limited edition sold in limited quantities worldwide and will be released for the first time in Korea through this live broadcast. Snoop Dogg is known to have directly participated in the entire production process, from product planning to concept and design, alongside Philipp Plein.
This collection features a high-top style that rises to the ankle, with gothic versions of Philipp Plein and Snoop Dogg inscriptions on the front of the sneakers. The colors are released in two styles: Black & Gold and Purple & Yellow. The Black & Gold (KRW 2,200,000) is made of leather material with a smooth gloss and was created using the two artists’ favorite colors. The Purple & Yellow (KRW 8,900,000) uses the colors symbolizing Snoop Dogg’s favorite basketball team, the LA Lakers, and adds crystal decorations to complete a glamorous and unique design.
The live broadcast selling the products will feature sneaker specialist YouTuber Wadi and rapper Ready, who will introduce the collection directly and communicate with consumers. Various benefits have also been prepared. Customers who purchase sneakers through the live broadcast will receive a 10% discount and a Philipp Plein hat as a gift.
A Shinsegae International official said, "This collection is an interesting attempt that combines luxury, hip-hop, and sports, and is expected to receive a good response among sneaker enthusiasts," adding, "Since the legendary hip-hop musician’s name and brand logo are engraved together, it also has high collectible value."
