Musk Visits White House and Congress to Discuss Electric Vehicle Issues

[Asia Economy New York=Special Correspondent Joselgina] Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla who acquired Twitter, visited Washington DC and held consecutive meetings with House leadership and White House officials.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre confirmed on the 27th (local time) that Musk visited the White House and met with Mitch Landrieu, Infrastructure Coordinator, and John Podesta, National Climate Advisor, to discuss electric vehicle issues.

Press Secretary Jean-Pierre explained, "They discussed ways to contribute related to the bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA)." However, there was no meeting between President Joe Biden and Musk, and no conversations related to the Twitter acquisition took place, she added.

Musk also confirmed the meeting by posting on Twitter. The previous day, Musk met with key Republican figures including House Speaker Kevin McCarthy. The Republican Party became the majority party in the House this year. The Washington Post (WP) reported that Musk also met with Jim Jordan, Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, and James Comer, Chairman of the House Oversight Committee.

Meanwhile, the House Oversight Committee plans to hold a hearing around the 8th of next month focusing on Twitter's response to the laptop report related to Hunter Biden, President Biden's second son.
