Haenam-gun Expands Senior Job Opportunities for a Stronger Centenarian Era

Full-Scale Launch of Senior Social Activity Support Project

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Haenam-gun, Jeonnam, is accelerating the 2023 Senior Employment and Social Activity Support Project to support the active and healthy old age life of the elderly.


According to the county on the 27th, a budget of 8.49 billion KRW will be invested this year to provide jobs to a total of 2,382 elderly people.

This is an increase of 214 people compared to last year, and the project started early on the 16th to actively support the resumption of social activities for the elderly after COVID-19.


The types of senior employment projects are subdivided according to the participants' needs into 45 project groups operated in 14 eup-myeon and 4 private executing organizations: △ Public interest activity type supporting social participation △ Social service type utilizing participants' careers and capabilities △ Market type generating profits through startup support.


Participants in the public interest activity type work 30 hours per month and receive 270,000 KRW, social service type participants work 60 hours per month and receive 590,000 KRW, and market type participants are paid activity fees according to the minimum wage.


In this regard, the county prioritizes the safety of elderly participants in the jobs, conducting safety education on traffic safety and other matters during project execution to ensure the project is carried out safely and actively.


In the future, satisfaction surveys will be conducted for job participants and beneficiaries during the project to operate a substantial senior employment project.


County Governor Myeong Hyun-gwan said, “To meet the increasing demand for jobs among the elderly, we will make more efforts to discover jobs so that more people can benefit,” and added, “I hope the senior employment project will be of some help to the elderly in the region in their later years.”
