As the Hometown Love Donation Program has emerged as an alternative to revitalize local areas facing population decline and financial weakening, as well as to stimulate the local economy, Mokpo City is also making strenuous efforts to promote the program.
Since April last year, the city has formed a preparatory working council for the Hometown Love Donation Program, ensuring thorough management, promotion, and development of thank-you gifts.
The city enacted related ordinances, selected 34 thank-you gifts composed of local specialties, registered them in the Hometown Love e-um system, and proactively promoted participation in the program through SNS, various event venues, and major tourist attractions.
Since its first implementation this year, over 200 people have participated, giving momentum to the Hometown Love Donation Program. On the 12th, Lee Gwon-jae, Mayor of Osan City in Gyeonggi Province, and on the 21st, Park Woo-ryang, County Governor of Sinan, mutually donated funds, encouraging the successful establishment of the system between local governments and strengthening cooperative relationships.

Mayor Park Hong-ryul said, “If you donate, you can receive tax deductions and carefully prepared Mokpo specialties as thank-you gifts, and furthermore, you can help expand the finances of your hometown Mokpo. We hope many will voluntarily participate in this triple-benefit Hometown Love Donation Program.”
Meanwhile, the city plans to focus on promoting the Hometown Love Donation Program through voluntary support relays from those who love Mokpo, production of short-form promotional videos, and promotional campaigns in densely populated areas. It will also make every effort to achieve sustainable development by additionally selecting thank-you gifts that can stimulate the local economy and donations, and by discovering distinctive fund projects.
