Daejeon City Supports Installation of 26,000 Eco-Friendly Home Boilers

[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City announced on the 27th that it will begin accepting applications for participation in the support project for the installation of eco-friendly (low-NOx) boilers for households starting from the 6th of next month.

The project provides partial financial support when replacing or installing eco-friendly boilers that emit low levels of nitrogen dioxide, a major cause of air pollution.

This year, the support volume is 26,804 units (25,718 for households and 1,086 for low-income families), an increase of about 10,000 units compared to last year.

After applying for the project, when installing a new boiler or replacing an old household boiler, general households will receive 100,000 KRW per unit, and low-income households will receive 600,000 KRW per unit.

Low-income households living in rented homes can also receive 600,000 KRW if they apply for replacement.

In particular, for low-income households, some boiler companies are also conducting events that provide additional support for replacement costs (exceeding 600,000 KRW), so the city urges applicants to consult with the company in advance before installing the boiler.

Applications for participation can be made by accessing the ‘Household Boiler Certification System’ via computer or mobile phone, or by visiting the environmental department of the local district office (postal applications are also accepted).

The application period is until December 8 of this year. However, the project may end early if the budget is exhausted.

For more detailed information, inquiries can be made through the city hall’s Fine Dust Response Division or the environmental department of the local district office.

Shin Yong-hyun, Director of the Environmental Greenery Bureau of the city, said, “Installing household low-NOx boilers not only provides subsidy benefits but also offers high energy efficiency, which can reduce fuel costs. Above all, since this year even houses rented by low-income tenants are eligible for subsidy benefits, we urge landlords to take an interest as well.”
