Suwon City Receives 'Excellent Grade' in Integrity for 3 Consecutive Years from the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission Suwon City Hall Exterior View

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Suwon City in Gyeonggi Province received a grade 2, an excellent rating, in the '2022 Public Institution Integrity Evaluation' conducted by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission. Accordingly, Suwon City achieved the distinction of receiving an excellent integrity rating for three consecutive years.


The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission evaluates a total of 501 administrative institutions and public organizations, including central administrative agencies, metropolitan local governments, basic local governments, and education offices, by measuring integrity perception (internal and external integrity surveys), integrity efforts (anti-corruption work performance evaluation), and corruption status to calculate and announce a comprehensive integrity score.


In this evaluation targeting 75 basic local governments, Suwon City received a comprehensive integrity grade 2 (out of 5 grades). Suwon City has established and implemented the '2022 Comprehensive Plan for Integrity Improvement' with the vision of 'Suwon Special City Trusted by Citizens for Integrity.'


The comprehensive plan consists of four areas and 20 detailed tasks: ▲ Institutionalized 'Integrity' (building anti-corruption infrastructure) ▲ Practiced 'Integrity' (improving unreasonable practices) ▲ Shared 'Integrity' (spreading integrity culture) ▲ Internalized 'Integrity' (cultivating integrity awareness).


The detailed tasks include ▲ Enactment of the 'Ordinance to Eradicate Gapjil Acts and Support Victims' ▲ Establishment of the 'Suwon City Public Officials Conflict of Interest Prevention System Operation Guidelines' ▲ Holding communication meetings on integrity with the MZ generation ▲ Autonomous internal control and operation of the 'Public Officials Self-Management System' ▲ Public-private cooperation integrity governance administration ▲ Operation of the 'Know Integrity Correctly' quiz competition ▲ Organizational culture improvement campaigns in cooperation with labor unions, among others.


A Suwon City official stated, "All public officials will continuously strive to create a Suwon Special City trusted by citizens for its integrity," and emphasized, "We will do our best to further improve integrity and achieve the highest rating."
