5 Innovation Strategies and 22 Detailed Tasks Implemented Step-by-Step Annually
Investment of 950 Billion KRW in 5 Agricultural Policy Tasks and 310 Unit Projects
[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] Gangwon Province has announced a comprehensive plan containing standards and goals to respond to the internal and external environments of agriculture and rural areas and to seek new growth strategies.
On the 27th, Gangwon Province stated, "We held a detailed implementation plan briefing session for major agricultural policies this year and will reflect the diverse opinions of cities, counties, and agricultural organizations in future policy formulation."
The 'Gangwon Agricultural Policy 2040 Future Development Basic Strategy' includes a plan to gradually implement five innovation strategies and 22 detailed tasks by year.
The details include ▲production innovation in response to the 4th industrial revolution and climate change ▲advancement of new industries such as bio, food, tourism, and services ▲distribution and consumption innovation through digitalization and smartization ▲rural and workforce innovation centered on people and responding to population decline ▲policy directions to activate governance supporting innovation strategies.
The province plans to listen to the opinions of policy stakeholders in related fields, including city and county agricultural organizations and experts, and complete the strategy formulation in line with the launch of the special autonomous province.
This year’s Gangwon agricultural policy includes ▲future innovation of people and industry and creation of vibrant agriculture and rural areas (65 projects, 247 billion KRW) ▲improvement of the future growth structure of livestock industry and advancement of management (46 projects, 56.1 billion KRW) ▲activation of agricultural product supply and distribution (82 projects, 191.8 billion KRW).
Additionally, it includes five representative tasks such as ▲promotion of sustainable eco-friendly agriculture (64 projects, 396.9 billion KRW) ▲establishment of a One Health foundation where people and animals are happy together (53 projects, 58.5 billion KRW), with a plan to invest 950.3 billion KRW.
The province held a briefing session on the 'Gangwon Agricultural Policy 2040 Future Development Basic Strategy' and '2023 Agricultural Policy' on the 26th at the St. John's Hotel in Gangneung.
Kim Jin-hwi, Director of the Agricultural Policy Bureau, said, "Despite difficult conditions, we explained this year’s key agricultural policy tasks and the 2040 future development strategy to farmers leading Gangwon agriculture and rural areas and city and county officials, and discussed the direction to move forward," adding, "We will make agriculture a representative new industry at the center of Gangwon Province’s economic growth."
