The province explained that the private investment company JMTC Consortium will invest a total of 1.2 trillion KRW to create a healing stay-type resort facility that integrates nature, science and technology, and culture and arts on a 1.25 million square meter area in Guyoung-ri, Jangmok-myeon, Geoje City.

It added that major linked projects between the Jangmok Tourism Complex and the Fishing Village New Vitality Promotion Project, such as ▲ Fisheries Hub Complex ▲ Resident Life SOC Complex Facility ▲ Outdoor Multipurpose Complex Space ▲ Hwangpo Marine Fishing Camp ▲ Hwangpo Tourist & Resident Rest Area ▲ Jangmok Connection Center, were discovered and selected for the public contest project.

A provincial official said, “With the selection of this project, we expect that the infrastructure and living facilities in the Jangmok area of Geoje will improve through fiscal projects, leading to the early activation of the Jangmok Tourism Complex. The linked development of the two projects will create new jobs in the region, attract young population, and serve as a catalyst for revitalizing the local economy.”

Gyeongnam Province plans to promote the project while communicating with residents so that the tourism complex and the local community can coexist, including holding resident briefing sessions for local residents.

Cha Seokho, Director of the Culture, Tourism and Sports Bureau, said, “With the expansion of large-scale national social overhead capital (SOC) infrastructure such as Gaduk New Airport, Southern Inland High-Speed Rail, and the Daejeon-Tongyeong Expressway extension to Geoje, we will strive to make the Geoje area, including the Jangmok Tourism Complex with enhanced accessibility and competitiveness, a growth engine hub of the South Coast.”
