[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Auditek recently announced on the 26th that it has decided to dispose of the shares and equity securities of Auditek Semiconductor (Nanjing) Co., Ltd. located in Nanjing, China.
Auditek established a local corporation in China in 2008 to target the non-memory semiconductor market. For about 15 years, it served as Auditek's local production plant in China, directly manufacturing and selling non-memory semiconductor chips.
Due to the Chinese government's COVID-19 regulations, there were difficulties in producing products systematically. Recently, the company made a bold decision to reshore production back to Korea. Reshoring refers to a company returning its operations from overseas back to its home country.
A company representative stated, "The decision to reshore is the best choice to double domestic semiconductor chip manufacturing capacity and to enable efficient and speedy management," adding, "We expect additional profitability improvements from reshoring."
Auditek plans to strengthen activities such as technology and facility investments for expanding its business area in the defense industry and advancing into overseas markets. It also intends to expand investments in related industries such as the robotics industry through strengthening its sensor business.
Auditek is a semiconductor manufacturing company specializing in non-memory semiconductor chips, optical sensors, and sensor modules. Based on its know-how in sensor development across various industrial fields, it has expanded its business areas to include high-reliability, high value-added automotive electronic optical sensor components, defense industry sensors, sensor package business, and bio sensor sectors.
