Kim Dong-yeon "Yoon Seok-yeol Government Busy Blaming Others Despite People's Heating Cost Crisis" Laments

Kim Dong-yeon "Yoon Seok-yeol Government Busy Blaming Others Despite People's Heating Cost Crisis" Laments A post by Kim Dong-yeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, on his SNS on the 26th

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Kim Dong-yeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, lamented that while the entire nation is shivering due to the Siberian cold wave, the Yoon Seok-yeol administration is only blaming the previous government.

On the 26th, Governor Kim stated through his social media service (SNS), "A bomb has fallen on people's livelihoods, and the government is busy blaming others. While the people are anxiously enduring the Siberian cold wave, what exactly has the government been doing?" He emphasized, "I will not blame others and will only focus on the lives of the residents. I will do my best to ensure that no resident's health or survival is threatened by the cold wave and heating cost bomb."

He added, "An inflation bomb bigger than heating costs is coming, and a recession harsher than the cold wave is approaching. It is a great concern that the Yoon Seok-yeol administration only blames the previous government even when the heating cost bomb falls." He promised, "Gyeonggi Province will focus on supporting heating costs for vulnerable groups such as the elderly, disabled, and homeless."

Accordingly, Gyeonggi Province will urgently provide 20 billion won in heating cost support to vulnerable groups within the province.

This measure mainly involves providing 20 billion won using contingency funds and disaster relief funds to elderly households, disabled households, homeless facilities, cold wave shelters (senior centers), and local children's centers.

The province will first expand the existing heating cost support plan of 50,000 won per month by providing a total of 200,000 won in heating costs for January and February to 64,528 elderly households aged 65 or older receiving basic living subsidies and 20,979 severely disabled households receiving basic living subsidies.

Additionally, 18 homeless use and living facilities in the province, 5,421 senior centers used as cold wave shelters, and 786 local children's centers will each receive 400,000 won in heating costs for January and February.

Through this measure, the province expects a total of 435,564 residents and 6,225 facilities to benefit from heating cost support.

Applications for heating cost support can be made at the administrative welfare centers in the applicant's town, township, or neighborhood, or through departments related to homeless and senior centers. Heating costs will be paid into the accounts of eligible recipients by each city and county after the 30th.

The province will also continue to identify and support heating crisis blind spots through the emergency welfare crisis counseling hotline (010-4419-7722) and the emergency welfare dedicated call center (031-120).
