[Asia Economy Reporter Onyu Lim] Hanwha Corporation's Construction Division announced on the 27th that it is strengthening its safety and environmental management system by establishing the 'High-Risk Integrated Control System (H-HIMS)' utilizing smart safety technology.
H-HIMS is a system that conducts dual safety management by linking CCTVs installed at construction sites nationwide with the headquarters' monitoring system when high-risk tasks are performed. Through smooth real-time information sharing between construction site safety managers and the headquarters' integrated control organization, it is possible to detect hazardous situations and enhance prevention capabilities.
In Hanwha's integrated control organization, veteran safety managers manualize potential risk factors that may occur during high-risk work and provide advising to each site. Based on extensive safety management experience, they check risk factors that may have been overlooked on-site and utilize the collected data for establishing safety measures.
In particular, Hanwha Corporation's Construction Division has been conducting close monitoring using smart safety technology, going beyond fixed CCTVs installed on tower cranes by introducing mobile CCTVs since last year. By using these, when there are critical high-risk construction tasks at specific sites, footage is transmitted from various angles to manage risk factors without missing any.
Hanwha Corporation's Construction Division has systematically identified site risk factors by analyzing years of past accident data. They assign frequency grades based on accident frequency by work type and intensity grades according to the severity of accidents. According to these standards, construction sites nationwide conduct frequent risk assessments, and when high-risk tasks are performed, they must go through the High-Risk Integrated Control System.
Goh Kang-seok, Chief Safety Officer (CSO), said, "The High-Risk Integrated Control System connects sites nationwide through 128 screens, maximizing the preventive effect against high-risk factors," adding, "We will continuously strengthen the safety and environmental management system to achieve zero major accidents in the Year of the Black Rabbit."
Hanwha Corporation's Construction Division is conducting broad system reviews and implementations in both policy and technical aspects to enhance safety and environmental management. They are actively encouraging the adoption of new safety management technologies. While applying idea technologies suited to the characteristics of each construction site, highly effective technologies are promoted company-wide, leading change through the fusion of safety and technology.
