[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Chun-hee] Dentis, a digital dentistry company based on implants, announced on the 25th through a public disclosure that it has secured a site measuring 14,761㎡ (approximately 4,465 pyeong) for the expansion of its new implant factory.
The site is located in Daegu Innovation City, Dong-gu, Daegu. It is also adjacent to Dentis' existing medical device business division. Dentis plans to build a new factory (3rd factory) on this site for the purpose of expanding implant processing and post-processing facilities.
As of last year, Dentis' implant production volume was 2.7 million sets. With the additional production capacity from this expansion, the implant product line capacity is expected to increase to 10 million sets annually, resulting in approximately a 3.7-fold increase in production capability.
Dentis' cumulative sales in the implant sector up to the third quarter of last year reached 54.5 billion KRW, surpassing the previous year's total sales of 49 billion KRW. In addition, steady growth is being observed both domestically and internationally. The company is preparing various businesses such as new product launches and direct sales, especially in the Chinese market, and plans to actively respond with proactive production capacity expansion as demand for various product lines beyond implants is expected to increase, including expanding overseas sales networks through new subsidiaries.
The company has set a goal to complete detailed construction plans and commence construction of the new factory, aiming for operation within the first quarter of 2024. Alongside this, the existing factory’s production lines will also be reorganized to secure space for mass production of the dental unit chair scheduled for release this year and new business related to operating room solutions.
A Dentis representative stated, “Starting with the new factory, we plan to reorganize existing factories to establish a mass production system that considers not only implants but also transparent orthodontic devices, LED surgical lights, dental unit chairs, and newly introduced operating room solutions.” He added, “As global market demand is expected to increase, we will focus on enhancing Dentis’ corporate value through stable product supply and smooth market response.”
