Steady Increase in High-Value Donations from Hometown Supporters
[Boseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Cheon-seok] Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that the 100th donor appeared 19 days after the hometown love donation system was officially implemented on January 1.
The first and second donors in Boseong-gun each donated the maximum annual amount of 5 million won, and the 100th donor appeared amid great interest and support for the hometown love donation system.
The number of expatriate hometown residents participating in large donations is steadily increasing.
The hometown love donation system is a program where individuals donate a certain amount to local governments other than their jurisdictional address through Hometown Love e-um and NongHyup branches, receiving tax deductions and return gifts (up to 30% based on the donation amount).
A Boseong-gun official said, “We sincerely thank everyone who donated for Boseong, and above all, thanks to the passion and interest of donors who have contributed since the system’s first implementation, the donations are being collected smoothly.” He added, “We will strive to widely promote the hometown love donation system through fostering the ‘Jeonnam Sarangae Supporters’ and continuous publicity to greatly contribute to the welfare of residents.”
Kim Cheol-woo, Mayor of Boseong-gun, said, “Although it has been less than a month since the system was implemented, I am grateful for the extraordinary hometown love shown by our local expatriates.” He added, “We ask for the participation of more expatriates and citizens.”
Meanwhile, starting in February, Boseong-gun plans to discover attractive return gifts to spread the donation culture and revitalize the local economy, and to form a donation management committee to ensure transparent and sound use of donations so that they can become a driving force for Boseong’s development.
