[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] C-Lab is gaining strength amid the artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot ‘ChatGPT’ craze. C-Lab is the only domestic software (SW) partner of NVIDIA, the biggest beneficiary of ChatGPT.
As of 10:49 AM on the 25th, C-Lab is trading at 18,830 KRW, up 10.94% from the previous trading day.
According to foreign media on the 23rd (local time), ChatGPT, released last month, has attracted worldwide attention, highlighting the US semiconductor company NVIDIA as the biggest beneficiary of the ChatGPT craze. At the same time, Microsoft also announced it will invest billions of dollars over several years in OpenAI.
Reports state that as ChatGPT usage increases, OpenAI requires greater computing power to handle millions of queries. This ultimately leads to a rise in the stock price of NVIDIA, a manufacturer of AI graphics chips.
ChatGPT is based on the ultra-large language model AI GPT-3. It is known that hundreds of GPUs are typically used to train such ultra-large language models. Using 1,024 units of NVIDIA’s GPU ‘A100,’ which has a computing performance of 163 TFlops (teraflops, 1 teraflop equals one trillion operations per second) per GPU, it takes about one month to train a language model at the GPT-3 level. Last year, NVIDIA introduced the latest GPU called ‘H100,’ which offers enhanced computing performance.
Meanwhile, C-Lab is an AI video analysis specialist company that creates value by applying AI technology to large-scale video data. C-Lab’s solution ‘Uyuni,’ which increases GPU-based data utilization, covers the weakness of GPUs that made multitasking difficult, enabling multiple tasks and maximizing efficiency.
In particular, C-Lab has been recognized for its technological capabilities as the only domestic software (SW) partner of NVIDIA, the US company holding the number one market share in the graphics processing unit (GPU) market.
