[Asia Economy Sejong=Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Korea South-East Power Co. announced on the 25th that it conducted an on-site inspection of the Bundang Combined Power Plant to prepare for an unprecedented cold wave this winter, checking the emergency response system including the restart status of power generation facilities.
The Bundang Combined Power Plant is a major power plant responsible for supplying heat to the Bundang area. Kim Hoecheon, President of Korea South-East Power, visited the central control room the day before to inspect the power supply and demand forecast after the Lunar New Year holiday, the operation status of power generation facilities, and the emergency response system in case of failure.
President Kim urged, "In a situation forecasting the coldest wave this winter starting from the evening, please thoroughly prepare for the power plant restart to prevent any startup failure the next morning, considering the possibility of a sudden surge in power demand immediately after the holiday."
He also requested the management of all business sites via phone to thoroughly inspect the facilities in preparation for unexpected failures, as the government and related organizations have activated the emergency power supply and demand response system in relation to this cold wave, to ensure no disruption in power supply and demand after the Lunar New Year holiday.
Meanwhile, Korea South-East Power stated that in preparation for this cold wave, executives including President Kim, the Vice President of Safety Technology, and the Vice President of New Business visited the Samcheonpo Power Headquarters and Yeosu Power Headquarters, which are scheduled to restart after the Lunar New Year holiday, to check the startup status of power generation facilities and encourage employees on emergency duty.
