'Holiday Gifts Better Left Unaccepted' Certifications Continue
Trend of Increased Secondhand Trading of Holiday Gifts Due to High Inflation
Reviews from office workers who received pickled radish and salad as Lunar New Year gifts have surfaced late, becoming a hot topic online.
On the 25th, various online communities posted photos certifying "holiday gifts better not received." Recently, an office worker shared a story about receiving 1kg of salad as a holiday gift, sparking attention.
Netizens responded with comments such as "Is the author a rabbit by profession?", "Who would receive salad if the Lunar New Year holiday leaves quickly?", and "Does the company think you are a snail?" Another office worker added their grievance, saying they received a pickled radish set for the holiday.
In another community, a post titled "Small and Medium Enterprise Lunar New Year Gifts" was published. The author wrote, "No matter how small the company is, they sent two 2-3 person portions of budaejjigae meal kits," adding, "They asked for the home address, so most people wrote their parents' address. My mom and dad will probably open it curious about what their son's company sent for the holiday gift, but they might think it was sent to the wrong place."
Previously, a post that sparked heated debate among netizens about "small and medium enterprise legendary holiday gifts" was revisited. It included companies that gave carp-shaped bread (Bungeoppang), companies that gave four cup noodles, and companies that divided canned ham and fruits into envelopes and put them in plastic bags.
According to a poll on the ‘Remember’ community asking about holiday gifts received from companies, 27% (57 people) said they received "Spam and cooking oil." Following that, 25% (53 people) said meat, and 15% (32 people) said fruit. Others accounted for 32% (66 people).
Meanwhile, amid rising living expenses due to high inflation, the number of people buying and selling Lunar New Year gift sets through secondhand trading sites is also increasing. On secondhand trading platforms like Danggeun Market, posts offering various gift sets such as Spam, canned tuna, daily necessities, and health functional foods have been continuously posted.
However, when selling on secondhand trading platforms, health functional foods such as red ginseng extract and probiotics can only be sold by officially registered sellers under the "Health Functional Foods Act."
