Japanese Mother Secretly Films in Women's Bath at Only Son's Request "Please Shoot"

Disguised Cameras with Bath Products and Combs Over 20 Times Since August Last Year

Japanese Mother Secretly Films in Women's Bath at Only Son's Request "Please Shoot"

A woman in her 60s in Japan was caught illegally filming inside a women's bathhouse over 20 times at the request of her son in his 30s.

According to Japanese media including the Yomiuri Shimbun on the 24th, the Moriyama Police in Aichi Prefecture arrested Ms. A (63) and Mr. B (37) on suspicion of violating the nuisance prevention ordinance (voyeurism) for repeatedly secretly filming inside a women's bathhouse. The police confiscated the camera and video files used in the crimes.

Ms. A is suspected of entering a women's bathhouse in Nagoya city more than 20 times since August last year and secretly filming customers with a small camera.

Ms. A hid a small camera inside a bathing basket, disguising it by filling it with various bathing items, combs, and towels to avoid detection. She carried this bathing basket around and secretly filmed several women naked in the changing room and inside the bathing facilities.

Ms. A was caught on December 30 last year. Another customer became suspicious of Ms. A, who was carrying a basket containing towels, combs, and a pouch and repeatedly going back and forth between the changing room and the bathhouse in Nagoya, and reported it to the staff.

When two staff members checked Ms. A’s bathing basket, they found a small camera. Since the police could not confirm the contents recorded on the small camera at the scene, they initially arrested Ms. A on suspicion of trespassing.

During the police investigation, Ms. A admitted to the illegal filming charges and stated that she committed the crimes at her son's request to "film inside the women's bathhouse." She said, "My son has been a hikikomori (shut-in) for 20 years," and "I responded to my son's request to help him find some psychological stability while he stays locked up at home."

Mr. B stated that he knew such videos are sold on the internet and that he intended to edit and sell the videos. However, it has not yet been confirmed whether the videos were actually sold.

The police are investigating further crimes related to them and have confiscated the camera used in the crimes and the secured video files.
